VECTOR vs RASTER

VECTOR IMAGE  – it is clear and smooth and is made with vector lines, rather than pixels.

Formats: Vector PDF, EPS, CDR or AI (CS5)

We require a vector image for:

  • Traditional Etching/Engraving on Metals
  • Engraving or Sandblasting on Glass
  • UV Printing

RASTER IMAGE – it is made up of pixels instead of lines or curves. The edges are fuzzy or jaggered.

Formats: JPG, PNG, TIFF, GIF, BMP

High quality raster images are only suitable for:

  • Engraving on Acrylic
  • Printing on Metal & Vinyl (Badges, Plaques & Medal Centres)
