Silver Plating Care
Silver plating does tarnish over time with exposure to air. With the right kind of care your silver plated items should last many years.
WASHING
Good quality silver plated items are not dishwasher safe. When necessary wash by hand in warm soapy water, (not lemon scented because that is acidic), and dry well with a soft cloth.
POLISHING
Only polish minimally with a soft lint free cloth or if really necessary use a cream or liquid polish recommended for silver plate. Apply the polish and polish item with a clean cloth. Buff with another clean soft cloth.
Apply the polish only in areas that will not be used for food or drink.
Polishing is complete when the item is shiny even if the cloth still comes away looking black.
